Clinical Analysis of Transfixation Screw at Distal Tibio-fibula Syndesmosis

Abstract
|
|
|
Injuries on the supporting ligaments of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis is raised by external rotation of the ankle and foot, and treated by conservative methods in almost cases except in, avulsion fracture by anteroinferior tibiofibular ligament.
But in the, cases of associated injuries of the deltoid ligament or lateral subluxation of the talus, operative treatment was indicated and transfixation screw is needed for restoration of the deltoid ligament and approximation of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis.
Authors have analyzed on the cases managed by transfixation screw incorrectly for ankle fractures accompanying the distal tibiofibular diastasis.
